Blabermouth.net reports that Bakersfield nu metal rockers Korn are releasing an album of Christmas songs, titled A Very Korn Kristmas just in time for the holidays.
Former guitarist Brian “Head” Welch left the band in early 2005 to devote his life to Christianity. The remaining members of the Multi Platinum, Grammy Award winning group were inspired by his life choice.

“We wanted to take traditional Christmas songs and make them Kristmas songs.” Guitarist James “Munky” Shaffer explains.
While it might seem strange to some that Korn, a group that launched an entire genre of music with their brooding down tuned guitars, growling vocals and known for often violent and scatological lyrics would delve into recording holiday themed music, the resulting 12 track disc is surprisingly well orchestrated.
On Korn’s rendition of “Oh Holy Night” vocalist Jonathan Davis wails the chorus over Fieldy’s slow, thumping bass beat of the familiar classic until breaking down into sobs and screams in a performance reminiscent of the song “Daddy” from their debut album. One of the more memorable tracks on ‘Kristmas, you can almost feel the pain that the Virgin Mary went through that night during the birth of Jesus.
Having released 2004’s Greatest Hits Volume I, 2006’s Live and Rare, a remix album Chopped, Screwed, Live and Unglued, and with the scheduled release of MTV Unplugged: Korn in February 2007, Davis concedes, “What a better way to fill out our catalogue then with some of the heaviest, fist pounding Yule tide hits you will ever hear!”
Davis feels many Korn Kids may have A Very Korn Kristmas at the top of their list to Santa this year. “A lot of our fans are Christian, but don’t have any of the kick ass heavy music they like during the holidays. So this is a Kristmas present from us to them.”
Fieldy feels the new songs represent the bands commitment to experimenting with new sounds. “Korn has always been about evolving. With this album we wanted to do something unique.”
